Parramatta Heritage Awards 2013

Nominations are now being called for the Parramatta Heritage Awards 2013. The Awards acknowledge projects and people that conserve, enhance or promote the heritage of the Parramatta Local Government Area.

Projects that are eligible for the Awards can include the restoration of heritage items or landscapes, additions or sensitive infill of heritage buildings, interpretive projects such as heritage walks, archaeological excavations, or education and research. A group or individual who have made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of Parramatta’s heritage is also eligible for the Awards.

There are four Award categories:

a Residential
b Commercial
c Public/community
d Promotion of Heritage

Awards will be considered for works or projects carried out from 2007 to 2013. The nominations will be assessed by a panel of judges who will consider how the projects or people demonstrates best heritage and conservation practice or contributes to the promotion and understanding of Parramatta’s heritage.

All nominees will be invited to a special Lord Mayoral reception on Friday evening, 1 November 2013 where the awards will be presented.

Nominations should be sent to Council by Friday, 4 October 2013.

This heritage property in Granville was an Award Winner in the 2007 Heritage Awards for its extensive restoration work.

The City of Parramatta Council Heritage Awards are generally held every two years. Awards acknowledge work undertaken on heritage buildings and places, as well as efforts made towards the interpretation and promotion of cultural heritage within the Parramatta Local Government Area.

Residents, owners and interested parties are invited to nominate people or places that have made an outstanding contribution to the conservation, education or promotion of heritage within the Parramatta Local Government Area.

The Awards are assessed by a panel of judges who examine how the project has demonstrated a contribution to an understanding of Parramatta’s heritage through conservation and physical works, education and promotion and research.
