Major Transport Interchange
Parramatta is a major transport hub with strategic regional significance. Over the last five years, the State Government has invested over $1 billion into Parramatta’s public transport infrastructure.The Parramatta Transport Interchange, one of Sydney’s principal transport hubs, delivers 60,000 people to the City every day. The Parramatta-Liverpool Transit way which carries over 50,000 people a week. The North West Transit way which connects City centre with Rouse Hill and the specialised centre in Westmead.
Rail Network
Located on the western railway line, Parramatta links the large and high growth greater western metropolitan areas with the Sydney CBD. Through the Y-link at Granville, the City has rail links to the large population centres in south-west Sydney.Within half an hour, Parramatta can be reached by rail from Sydney, Penrith or Liverpool.
Travelling by Bus
Parramatta is central to a number of major Government and privately operated bus routes.The City is easily accessible to Sydney’s west, north-west and south-west regions and has direct bus routes to the Sydney CBD, Chatswood, Epping, Bankstown, Homebush Bay, Liverpool, Blacktown and Castle Hill. A number of strategic bus corridors are focused on Parramatta railway station.
Free CBD Shuttle Bus
Getting around the Parramatta CBD is easy with the introduction of ‘The Loop’, a free shuttle bus service. Arriving every 10 minutes, it runs continuously throughout the day.
Access by Road
Parramatta lies at the junction of a number of important roads - Victoria Road, Parramatta Road, Great Western Highway, Pennant Hills Road, Cumberland Highway and the M4 Freeway. The M2 Freeway is also a short five minute drive away.Within the Parramatta CBD there are over 24,000 car parking spaces available including public and private car parks as well as on-street, hotel and community parking facilities.
Freight
For businesses distributing products to state, national and international markets, Parramatta provides efficient road links to interstate highways, Sydney International Airport and the Port of Sydney.
Travelling by water
A Rivercat service operates along the Parramatta River to and from Circular Quay on an hourly basis. The Parramatta ferry wharf is the westernmost destination of the Sydney Ferries River Cat service. It is located at the Charles Street Weir on the eastern boundary of the Central Business District.
