Parramatta City Council Food Services Meals on Wheels delivers nutritionally balanced and culturally diverse meals to people who are older and frail , people with disabilities and their carers who live in the Parramatta Local Government Area.

Parramatta Meals on Wheels receives funding from council and state and federal Government through the Home and Community Care Program, administered by the Department of Ageing Disability and Homecare.

Meals on Wheels delivers between 200 – 250 meals each week day to people that are older and frail, people with disabilities as well as people recuperating from illness or surgery who reside within the Parramatta Local Government Area. The service can be for both a short and long term basis.

We supply a combination of nutritionally balanced pre packaged chilled meals, frozen meals, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 am to 11:00 am each morning. A hot meal is available where a person has no way to heat food or has a medical condition making them unable to heat a meal.

All meals include a main meal, desert and juice. A soup is available upon request for an additional fee. As part of our service we provide a range of cultural meals upon request.

Payment of meals can be done by direct debit, money order or bank cheque. Invoices are posted on a monthly basis.

The day to day operations are carried out by paid staff, however, the Meal deliveries are performed by trained volunteers who are committed to our local community.

Referrals can come from yourself or family, hospital, doctor or other services. The cost of meals is reviewed annually. (page 26)
