Neighbour Aid is a volunteer visiting service that aims to provide companionship to people who are isolated and need social support to remain independent.
People who are eligible for this service are:
Neighbour Aid receives funding from state and federal Government through the Home and Community Care Program administered by the Department of Ageing Disability and Homecare.
The main support given by Neighbour Aid is matching trained volunteers to someone who is isolated for companionship from one to five hours per week. Neighbour Aid volunteers can also help by accompanying someone to an appointment, sorting out bills/papers or spending time with a carers’ loved one, so that the carer can have time to themselves.
Group activities are also offered to provide an opportunity to make new friends and go to community activities..
