Parramatta City Council’s Seniors’ Leisure and Learning Centre provides an extensive range of education, recreation and social activities throughout the year.
People over 50 years of age living in and outside of the Parramatta Local Government Area are welcome to join. A nominal annual fee for membership is charged and there is also a small fee per person for class activities.

Activities and Centre Operations
The Seniors’s Leisure and Learning Centre is situated very close to public transport.
The Coordinator can also help you to find out about Community Transport to get to the centre.
Activities are offered to help members maintain a healthy holistic lifestyle including: Yoga, Gentle Exercise, Knitting, Craft, Paining, Tai Chi, Line Dancing, Reiki, Paper Tole, Walking Group, Tango Dancing and Cooking. Also offered are Bus Trips and Massage (due to the popularity of these activities bookings are essential).
Activities can last anywhere from half an hour to all day. Massage appointments are 30 minute sessions and most centre activities last 1 hour, with some lasting 2 hours. Bus outings can take a full day and may last as long as 7 hours.
Trained volunteers assist staff with the day to day running of the centre and run a number of the activities offered. Volunteer roles available include reception, tutoring, office administration and providing community information.
Once you are a member, and have decided what activity you would like participate in, the Coordinator will work with you regarding schedule times and costs. Most activities will incur a small class fee, while some activities are free.
Activities such as bus trips and massage require bookings and are offered at a very reasonable rate. (page 26)
The University of the Third Age (U3A) and the Parramatta Senior Citizens also conduct activities from the Seniors’ Leisure and Learning Centre. To join their activities you must take up membership with them, the centre Coordinator can help you with this. Parramatta Senior Citizens offer indoor bowling, while the U3A offer educational activities such as Colonial History, Writing, Family Tree and Science.
