The Seniors’ Outreach service is dedicated to promote the wellbeing and independence of people over 50 years of age. We offer leisure, recreation, learning and social activities planned with local residents in each ward of the Parramatta Local Government area. The service is responsive to the barriers and limitations residents over 50 years may experience in accessing appropriate and affordable services that can enhance, encourage and maintain healthy ageing.

The Seniors’ Leisure and Learning Outreach Service started in 2005 and aims to:

• Plan activities with local residents over 50 years and existing services
• Overcome barriers identified by local residents through providing easily accessible services that are sensitive to the diversity of cultures
• Target local residents who are isolated
• Encourage people to adopt healthy lifestyle habits by facilitating a range of activities that will promote fitness, wellness and lifelong learning
• Work in partnership with local groups and services for the expansion and strengthening of activities for people over 50 years. 

Granville Seniors’ Outreach

Granville Seniors’ Outreach provides activities at the Granville Youth and Community Centre, 3a Memorial Drive, Granville. Activities include:

• Lifelong learning courses Creative activities
  • Introduction to Computers and internet use Painting
  • How to use your digital camera Scrapbooking/cards making
  • Healthy lifestyle talks Patchwork/quilting
• Fitness and wellness programs Social Activities
  • Line dancing for beginners and advanced Weekly social group
  • Tai chi run by the Granville Multicultural Centre Bus outing
  • Aquafitness with Granville swimming Pool Men’s group-all ages welcome

Ermington Seniors Outreach

Ermington Seniors’ Outreach activities are held at the Ermington Community Hall, River Road, Ermington and include:

• Gentle Exercise with qualified instructor
• Line dancing
• Outdoor walking group – contact the Coordinator for venue information

Guildford Seniors Outreach

Plans are underway to implement activities in the Guildford area commencing October 2007.
