Celebrate Your Place - Local Neighbourhood Picnic Reynolds Park, Toongabbie

Following the first Local Neighbourhood Picnic in July 2007, a greater number of local residents participated in a number of “local neighbourhood” meetings. Due to the huge success of the first picnic, local residents were keen to work alongside Parramatta City Council and local service providers to organise another picnic. The Local Neighbourhood Picnic #2 was held at Reynolds Park in the second week of the October school holidays.

The event was a great success, attracting a large number of local families, with well over 200 people braving the blistering heat to socialise and talk with neighbours, and build on the local ‘community spirit” in Toongabbie.  The morning was full of games and activities for children aged 2 – 12 years, including tug-o-war, egg and spoon, and three legged races. Thank you  to all  the local residents who helped organise and run these activities on the day.

The wonderfully talented face-painters, Kim Mooney and her assistant, worked tirelessly to transform children of all ages into their favourite fantasy character.  As the park was filling up with superheros, princesses, fairies and wild animals, the big surprise of the day arrived. Ravioli the Clown and his friend the Magician entertained everyone with magic tricks, balloon tying, jokes, songs and lots of clowning around with local children! Everyone went home with a big smile on their face.
