We recognise that the establishment of successful social enterprises is largely dependent on the vision, passion, drive and commitment of the social entrepreneurs who develop and grow them.
We believe that there are many potential social entrepreneurs in our communities and seek to identify and support them through assisting with developing their skills and social enterprise concepts.
An important collaboration for PCC in this area is with the Australian School for Social Entrepreneurs www.sse.org.au, which commenced in March 2009. The Australian SSE builds on the successful UK model and is currently operating in Sydney, with plans to expand to Melbourne in 2010. Five Parramatta-based social entrepreneurs were included in the first cohort of students and a further three in the second.
Please also see the ‘Mentoring and support’ pages for information on the Parramatta Social Enterprise Hub, which provides a range of business support services to local social enterprises and social entrepreneurs.
