Facilities

The library offers a range of facilities available at the Parramatta City Library and Branches; from room hire both free and paid as well as a range of technology facilities. For more information about the facilities available at your local branch please contact the library directly.

Parramatta Library has 3 study rooms

These rooms are available for up to 4 people per room. These rooms may be booked for a maximum of 2 hours per day per group. Bookings are essential and can be made in person or contact the library Ph. 9806 5156 or 9806 5164. The following conditions apply when hiring these rooms:

• A room may only be booked ahead one day in advance. (customers who wish to book further ahead must book one of the meeting rooms and pay the appropriate fee)
• Each room holds 4 persons (customers who wish to book for a larger group must book one of the meeting rooms and pay the appropriate fee.)
• Bookings can be taken over the phone or in person
• Booking must be made using a Parramatta Library Card number
• Bookings can only be made for 2 hours per day per group.
• Bookings are held for 10mins only

Meeting Rooms (Parramatta Library Only)

The library offers meeting rooms and the Technology Learning Centre for hire to Commercial and Community groups. Three rooms with facilities and equipment for meetings, seminars etc and seating for 8 to 60 people are available for hire by community and commercial groups.

Darug Room (Top floor)

The facility accommodates up to 60 people seated theatre style or 24 people in a workshop setting.  

A small kitchenette is available and access to shared toilet facilities is provided.

Parramatta Library River Room

This room accommodates up to 8 people

Please note: this room does not have any facilities. Toilet facilities are available on the ground floor of the library. Food or drink is not permitted in this room.

Hiring Rates

Category A (Commercial) - $20.00 per hour (includes GST)
Category B (Community) - $10.50 per hour (includes GST)

Retro Room (Mezzanine level)

This room accommodates up to 35 people. A small kitchenette with microwave is available. This room does not have its own toilet facilities. Toilet facilities are available on the ground floor of the library. Please note: this room does not have wheelchair access

Technology Learning Centre Parramatta Library Only

Through the Parramatta Technology Learning Centre, the library aims to provide access to technology training facilities to assist the community. We provide appropriate equipment and make the facility available for hire to community and commercial groups for technology training course. The Centre is also used for public technology training sessions. All training sessions will be advertised when they are available. Please check the library noticeboard for details.

The PCs are connected to printers at the Reference Desk. Charges apply

Please note: the Centre does not have its own toilet or kitchen facilities. Toilet facilities are available on the ground floor of the library

Category B (Community) - $25.00 per hour (includes GST)

General conditions of Use

• Bookings are taken up to 3 months in advance only.
• Payment is required in advance for multiple or recurring bookings.
• Hirers must agree to the guidelines and conditions of use. This document is provided with the booking form and includes the following:
  • The set up of the facility is to be in accordance with Council Fire regulations. Fire exits are to be kept clear at all times.
  • All furniture and equipment must be returned to its original location.
  • Use of the kitchen (where available) is to be confined to serving food previously prepared and serving of tea, coffee and refreshments.
  • The hirer is responsible for the cost of making good any damage.
  • The Council is not responsible for the loss or damage to any property belonging to either the hirer or any person attending the function or meeting.
  • All facilities must be left in a clean and tidy state at the completion of the booked time.
