Outreach library service for housebound clients
Operated by Parramatta City Council the Outreach Library service is free to residents of the Parramatta Local Government Area. The Housebound Readers’ Service is offered to residents who cannot go to the library due to disability, illness or have limited mobility.
Eligibility for outreach library service
- Residents require a doctor’s certificate stating causes or reasons why they cannot access their library due to medical conditions or illness.
- Residents whose sole carer cannot leave them long enough to visit a library.
- Residents who are physically disadvantaged, suffering debilitating illness or extreme frailty.
- Residents who require temporary service during convalescence after serious illness or injury.
- This service is also available to nursing home & retirement villages.

Residents will be delivered any item available from the Parramatta City Library Service including:
- Books
- Large Print Books
- Videos
- DVD’s
- Talking Books
- Music CDs
- CD-ROMS
- Magazines
Housebound Readers’ Service delivers fortnightly on alternate Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
