Walking Tracks
Our open space network contains many informal walking tracks and trails which provide a variety of opportunities to experience nature.
Lake Parramatta is a 96ha bushland reserve which is located within two kilometres of the Parramatta CBD. The entrance to the reserve is from Lackey Street, off Bourke Street in North Parramatta. There are a number of formal tracks which form a circuit around the edge of the lake which was originally the water supply for Parramatta. For further information and walking trail guides please download the Lake Parramatta Reserve brochure.

Informal tracks can be found along Duck River, Ponds, Vineyard, Quarry Branch and Toongabbie Creeks. These other trails are not constructed but are desire lines created by public usage and are predominantly located along our waterways, with many having uneven surfaces, no signs or guides – walkers should take due care. Council is progressively upgrading these trails by providing access stairs, bridges, improving track surfacing and installing directional signage to provide a better experience for visitors.
The Ponds Walk from Carlingford to Rydalmere will be upgraded in 2008 to improve the track surface which will allow the public to appreciate the majestic Sydney Blue Gums and bird life that abounds in Dundas Valley.
