Guidelines for Inclusion in The Dining Guide, 2009
The Dining Guide provides a comprehensive listing of cafes, restaurants, bars and bistros. It is aimed at a market consisting of residents, workers, business visitors and tourists and is designed to drive customers into our food and beverage sector. It has a focus on restaurants because they provide the ‘dining’ experience Parramatta stakes its reputation on and are the main attraction for diners. Café, bars and other small food outlets are included as supplementary choices.
Venues and precincts that have high-visitor appeal, dining amenity, accessibility, media profile and positive recognition within the surrounding community are emphasised through text and photography because they have a unique ability to bring patrons into Parramatta’s economy and this has flow on effects for neighbouring businesses.
Parramatta’s CBD is a focal point for dining but the Dining Guide also promotes neighbourhoods across the Local Government Area. Some criteria apply, as listed below.
- For a suburb to be featured it must contain a cluster of at least 5 sit-down food servicing establishments within walking distance of one another
- For a venue to be listed it must be fully compliant with the conditions of the Australian Food Standards Code, as regulated by Parramatta City Council’s Health Inspection Department
- Council reserves the right not to include takeaway shops, mobile food outlets, convenience stores, caterers without table servicing facilities, delicatessens, produce stores, canteens, kiosks, sandwich bars, service stations, fast food outlets, chain stores or eateries who do not promote themselves as ‘Eat-In’ venues
- Council does not promote businesses located outside of the Parramatta Local Government Area.
