Venue:   Parramatta Park
Cost:      Free

NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day of Celebration) celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Parramatta Council has, for many years recognised the importance of indigenous peoples past and present- we were the first Council in Australia to formally apologise to the Stolen Generations (in 1998).

NAIDOC Week will be celebrated from 6th July – 12th July. The traditional owners of Parramatta Region are the Dharug people who have a close relationship with the river. The name Parramatta is derived from the Aboriginal word Burramatta “The Place where eels lie down to breed”. The Dharug people invite you to join them in their Parramatta NAIDOC Week Celebrations.
