Parramatta Council’s Major Events for 2009 – 2010 Callout
Over the next twelve months tens of thousands of locals and visitors to Parramatta will train, bus, taxi, drive, pedal, walk, ferry and paddle their way to our exciting range of major public events throughout the summer.
Parramatta City Council presents a comprehensive range of major events each year and we are currently seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from food, merchandise and information stallholders, casual staff as well as entertainers and performance groups wishing to take part in these dynamic events.
Forthcoming events include:
- Riverbeats (31 Oct 2009)
- Loy Krathong (7 Nov 2009)
- New Years Eve (31 Dec 2009)
- Australia Day (26 Jan 2010)
- Lunar New Year (19 Feb 2010)

Stallholders
Do you have an original product and an original stall presentation? Of particular interest are multicultural food stalls such as Asian, Indian, Arabic and Italian as well as seafood, vegetarian and healthy food options. Specialty food and merchandise stall are also invited to apply. Council encourages applications from stallholders who have an environmentally aware approach.
Entertainers & Performance Groups
Talented entertainers and performance groups are invited, particularly from Western Sydney, to perform as part of the Australia Day Village Hub community stage program at Parramatta Park. Opportunities also arise for Asian performance groups whom celebrate Lunar New Year.
This is a great opportunity to capitalise on the exposure and promotions of Council’s major events.

Christmas is fast approaching and Parramatta City Council is producing its Community Christmas Calendar for 2009. If you are holding a community Christmas event or activity during this festive season and would like to be included in this year’s calendar, please fill out this online form.
Casual Staff Call Out
Last year over 120,000 people attended and enjoyed our events. This year we expect even larger crowds to attend our major, multi-faceted events. Council is seeking staff support for the following positions:
- Entertainment, Logistics, Operations & Production Coordinators & Crew
- Site, Stage & Event Managers

Volunteers needed at our Major Events in Parramatta
Over the next twelve months thousands of locals and visitors to Parramatta will train, bus, taxi, drive, pedal, walk, ferry and paddle their way to our exciting range of major public events throughout the summer.
Riverbeats Live gets us off to a spectacular start on October 31. This year highlights include the Chalk Art Festival, delicious food from local vendors on Eat St, celebrity chefs, and an extraordinary musical experience under Musical Director Dale Barlow featuring Synergy, Decoder Ring and the Blenders.
Magical Loy Krathong re-appears on November 7 with a concert by Musica viva and those marvellous floating candles filling the river at dusk.
There’s New Year’s Eve at Prince Alfred Park, our monster Australia Day in Parramatta Park and Lunar New Year on 19 February.
Last year over 120,000 people attended and enjoyed jour events. This year we expect even larger crowds.
To make the day a success, Parramatta City Council needs 50 enthusiastic volunteers to help on the day of the event with everything from greeting attendees as they arrive, to organising our info stalls, problem solving and helping lost visitors. You need to have good communication skills, a friendly and helpful attitude and an interest in Events and Marketing.
