Development Plans and Policies

Parramatta City Council’s Development Services Unit uses a set of planning instruments to guide the assessment of all applications and to regulate safe, community friendly, heritage conscious and aesthetically pleasing developments in Parramatta’s CBD and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Council develops locally specific planning instruments such as the Development Control Plan 2005 (DCP) and the Local Environment Plan 2001 (LEP) which apply only to the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). NSW Department of Planning (DoP) develops region specific planning instruments such as the Sydney Regional Environment Plan No. 28 - Parramatta (SREP) which several councils in differing areas must comply with and which over rule any locally specific planning instruments.
