Residential Development Strategy – Stage 1
In Stage 1 of the RDS, Parramatta City Council released a discussion paper about predicted population changes in Parramatta and greater Sydney. The discussion paper also identified Council’s key responsibilities in the planning process, including:
- Identifying appropriate locations for additional dwellings
- Ensuring housing types meet existing and future needs
- Minimising urban sprawl
- Ensuring high design standards, and
- Providing opportunities for walking.
Stage 1 of the RDS was exhibited between 30 March 2005 and 11 May 2005. Residents were invited to contribute to the discussion by either responding to a Survey or writing a submission. The consultation results were reported to Council in June 2005 and were used as the basis for the Stage 2 of the RDS review.
