Notification

Under the Parramatta City Council Notification Development Control Plan 2004 the policy for notification typically depends on whether the development proposal is of a domestic nature (e.g. dwellings and additions) or of commercial nature and is classified as advertised or designated (e.g. residential flat buildings and other commercial developments).

Domestic style development proposals are notified to neighbouring properties via a written letter. This enables neighbours to assess any potential concerns regarding the proposed development for a period of 14 calendar days. Whereas development proposals which are either advertised or designated are notified to neighbouring properties via a written letter, placed on exhibition at Council buildings and advertised in local newspapers such as Parramatta Advertiser and Northern District Times for a period of 21 calendar days.
