Pollution
Council is responsible for enforcing environmental legislation concerning pollution incidents and general waste disposal. However, the Department of Environment and Conservation - Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) deals with major pollution and hazardous waste incidents. Council Environmental Health Officers investigate complaints, the details Council require include colour, location, time you saw it, and the details of the person/address responsible (if you know).
If pollution is occurring at the time, residents should contact Council's Customer Service Centre, 9806 5000 during office hours, or the EPA Pollution Line if urgent attention is required after hours, 131 555.
After hours emergencies should contact the EPA Pollution Line, 131 555 or local police in the case of noise.
Council rangers also investigate some complaints, eg barking dogs and littering.
