Current laws already provide scope for councils to take enforcement action against people creating excessive smoke. For further information: Environment Protection Authority
Burning garden refuse and other waste in the open and in incinerators pollutes the air and can annoy neighbours. To prevent pollution the State Government has prohibited all burning in the open and in incinerators (including the burning of vegetation and domestic waste) in the Sydney Metropolitan Area.
