Water
You can be fined for washing your car on the road.
The wastewater that runs off a car when it is washed may contain soap, detergents, mud, rubber and/or grease that pollute the environment. Allowing wastewater to enter the stormwater drain is an offence that can result in a $750 on-the-spot fine for individuals, and $1500 fine for companies. You should wash your car on a grassy area or at a commercial car wash. Remember, the drain is only for rain.
Council is preparing a 10 year strategy, 'Rivers of Opportunity - Managing Parramatta's Waterways 2010 and Beyond'. If you would like further information please phone 9806 5675.
