Parramatta City Council provides households with 240L bins for garden waste. In unit blocks, garden organic bins are generally not provided unless requested by the body corporate or strata management and a real need is demonstrated.
Everything living can be called organic, but that does not mean it can go into your household garden waste bin! Garden organics are simply organic materials that can be found in your garden, such as grass clippings, pruning, leaves, twigs and smaller tree branches (see below). According to the DECC (Department of Environment and Climate Change), up to 50% of household waste is garden waste.
Organic waste that goes to landfill takes up valuable space and, as it decomposes, can produce harmful greenhouse gases that leak into the air and water. This can harm the environment.

Only the above items can be placed into your Garden Organic Bin.
