Seek the Best Jobs in Parramatta

23 Jun 2008

Parramatta’s renaissance continues with the launch of a new web portal today that will assist those seeking premium jobs in one of the fastest growing commercial sectors of New South Wales.

New Work City“As Sydney’s second city and with Department of Planning calculating that Parramatta’s job market will balloon by fifty per cent by 2031, it is imperative that access to this lucrative area be as easy as possible,” said Lord Mayor of Parramatta City Council, Cr Paul Barber.

Entitled Welcome to Your New Work City, the web portal is an initiative of the Council in a unique partnership with employment website Seek, to build detailed profiles of key industries, companies and recruitment agencies that exist within Parramatta.

“This site will assist those seeking their next big step in considering Parramatta as a viable place to build their career in a region that generates over $100 billion a year and houses 30 percent of Australia's top 500 companies. This website will assist them to attract the best in people and resources,” the Lord Mayor said.

The website will be promoted through an extensive marketing campaign with outdoor billboards on major roads and public transport as well as a wide-reaching online campaign.

“Parramatta is a living city, with a growing cultural precinct, a comprehensive urban rejuvenation programme under way and with 300 different cafes, bars and restaurants Parramatta is now the dining capital of western Sydney,” the Lord Mayor said.

“It is also bucking the brain-drain trend, with the city experiencing a growth in those aged between 18-35 years old who have made this city their home. With only a 4 percent unemployment rate and with half of the city's workers employed in work requiring a post-secondary school qualification, the attractions are obvious,” the Lord Mayor said.

“As a transport hub serviced by the river and train lines connecting north, south, east and west, Parramatta is already attracting highly skilled people, particularly in law, health, recruitment and service industry management,” the Lord Mayor said.

“For many professionals already, Parramatta is their ‘New Work City’ and we want to make sure that it isn’t one of Sydney’s best kept secrets,” the Lord Mayor said.
