China Beyond Graphics Exhibition Visits Parramatta
02 Nov 2009
Parramatta City Council and the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China are proud to host the China Beyond Graphics exhibition to be held at Parramatta Town Hall from 7– 20 November.
The exhibition is an interesting portrayal of Chinese graphic designs respecting time honoured cultural traditions, while embracing ideas and vistas from other countries.
Posters, logos, packaging, book covers and designs for the 2008 Beijing Olympics are showcased to give visitors a taste of Chinese graphic design illuminating the country's path to development over the past two decades.
“China Beyond Graphics exhibition also highlights strong relations Parramatta has fostered with the Chinese community,” said Lord Mayor of Parramatta City Council Cr Paul Garrard. “It is a unique platform for our two countries to boost solidarity and promote cultural exchanges.
“Visitors can explore the recent explosion of new design in China, where rapid economic development and cultural change are fuelling innovation in the country’s design industries,” he said.
“I value the Chinese community’s contributions to our city and firmly believe that relations between our countries will continue to develop,” said Cr Garrard.
The exhibition is supported by the Australian Chinese Cultural Exchange Foundation and Award Global. The exhibition is free and is open to everyone.
