Ambassador Nathan to Give Hometown Performance
21 Oct 2009
Australian Idol finalist and Western Sydney resident Nathan Brake will make his first public appearance as Goodwill Ambassador of the City of Parramatta today when he takes to the stage outside of Parramatta Town Hall.
Nathan will be presented with a Goodwill Ambassador Award on stage by Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cr Paul Garrard. The presentation will be followed by a short interview and Nathan will perform, accompanied by his local school band from the Australian International Performing Arts High School. Entertainment will start at 2.30pm, with Nathan scheduled to appear at 3.30pm.
The Channel 10 Australian Idol crew will film the presentation and performance, and fans will have a chance to meet their idol and win prizes.
“Nathan was named as our first Goodwill Ambassador of the City of Parramatta last week to serve as a point of contact between Parramatta City Council and the wider community, to promote the City of Parramatta and the city’s culture,” Cr Garrard said.
“He is a young man of enormous talent and a great representative of Parramatta and Western Sydney,” he added. “He has proved he can sing and he’s keen to sing Parramatta’s praises, so he was an ideal choice as our first Goodwill Ambassador.”
The Goodwill Ambassador of the City of Parramatta program will see Council partnering with leaders in a range of fields such as sports, academia, entertainment and business to generate economic growth and showcase the many positives of the Parramatta local government area.
Cr Garrard also urged residents to support their Ambassador in his battle to be named this year’s Australian Idol by voting to keep him in the competition.
“Nathan is a local lad from Guilford and at only 18 years old has done extremely well in his chosen field,” Cr Garrard said. “He will have a positive impact in expanding awareness on the area’s business, cultural and tourism offerings as our Ambassador, so the least we can do for him as a community is support him in Australian Idol.”
