What is the Community Voice?

Community Voice replaces our ‘Residents’ Panel’ that you may have been familiar with. Community Voice is made up of members who live, visit, own/operate a business or undertake paid or voluntary work within the Parramatta Local Government Area.

Members of Community Voice have the opportunity to contribute to Council decisions and help to establish future directions of our City.

At present, more than 700 people have registered for Community Voice.

What will you need to do as a member?

As a valued member of Community Voice, members will be helping Council to make important decisions about the City's future by:

  • Taking part in surveys (less than 8 per year), questionnaires, online polls, workshops and focus groups to tell us what you think about particular issues
  • Attend special one-off events
  • Attending focus groups and take part in other activities
  • Go into a regular draw to win great prizes

As a panel member you can take part in as many or as few projects as you wish. It is an entirely ‘opt in’ process. If you are inactive and have not completed and returned surveys or we can not contact you, we will retire your membership.

Who is eligible to join?

You are eligible to become a member of the Parramatta City Community Voice if you are aged over 16 years and fall into any one or more of the following categories:

  • Resident – Must live within the Parramatta LGA
  • Business Owner - Owns or operates a business or social enterprise within the Parramatta LGA
  • Worker - Anyone who undertakes paid work within the Parramatta LGA
  • Volunteer – Those who undertake voluntary work within the Parramatta LGA
  • Visitor – Those who live outside the Parramatta LGA but have visited in the last 12 months for any reason e.g. to shop, eat out, stay overnight

You are not eligible to be a member of Community Voice if you are

  • employed by Parramatta City Council
  • an elected member of Parramatta City Council
