Community Satisfaction Survey

In August 2011 Council completed its annual Community Satisfaction Survey with the assistance of our Community Voice members. The survey plays an important part in helping Council to gain an understanding of how happy members are with the services and infrastructure it provides. The results can then be used to identify areas where improvements are needed over the next 12 months and to make any necessary modifications to services.

Participant feedback was generally positive for Council, with 38 service areas improving upon the previous years’ results, and only 5 areas showing a decline in satisfaction or rating. Overall satisfaction with Parramatta City Council as an organisation is high at 74%. This represents a 14% improvement on 2010.

The data from the 2011 survey will be used to report against the key performance measures in Council’s Delivery Plan and Operational Plan. These results will be reported to the community and Department of Local Government as part of the Annual Report. A copy of the findings from the survey has been circulated to Councillors and reported to Council’s Executive Team.

Major findings:
  • The majority of respondents (73%) rated customer service as ‘good’ or ‘very good’
  • 66% of respondents agreed that Parramatta is becoming a better place to live, work and play
  • 82% of respondents regard Parramatta City as Sydney’s 2nd CBD
  • 45% of respondents were satisfied that Council provides value for money
  • 36% of respondents agreed that Council delivers on its promises
  • The top 2 issues identified by respondents as requiring improvement in Parramatta CBD was reducing crime/increasing safety (19%) and more/cheaper parking (11%).
  • Respondents would like more opportunity within the survey to expand upon answers
