Bushland Volunteer (Bushcare)

Parramatta Bushcare

What is Bushcare?

Bushcare is a voluntary program where residents can join a local community group that work together to look after a nearby bushland reserve. Bushcare volunteer groups meet about once a month on weekends, and participate in a number of activities to help protect our local bushland, including Weeding exotic species and Planting native species.

Why is Bushcare important?

Bushcare is an important program because it:

  • Removes weeds from bushland reserves
  • Allows native plants to thrive
  • Improves habitat for local wildlife
  • Encourages community spirit
  • Allows community members to be actively involved in protecting our remaining bushland

Why volunteer?

There are lots of reasons why people become Bushcare volunteers, including wanting to:

  • Learn about the local natural environment
  • Look after and protect the environment
  • Meet new people
  • Get outdoors and stay active
  • Give something back by volunteering
