Parking and Transport in Parramatta
Parramatta is a major transport hub.
In the heart of our City, we have a transport interchange which links trains, buses and T-way buses.
Paid parking has been introduced in Parramatta Central Business District, North Parramatta and Harris Park in November 2005 as part of an integrated traffic management plan. This has been established to help turn over parking more regularly, making it easier for visitors to find parking and encourage greater patronage in business districts.
Paid parking is one element of a larger transport management plan for Parramatta.
Council is also investigating Park and Ride facilities, T-Way bus routes, upgrading car parking and improving street signage as part of our integrated traffic management plan.
Council encourages cycling as an alternative and more sustainable way to travel, particularly for short trips. Our goal is for cycling to make up five percent of work trips to the city by 2021.
Free Mobile Applications
Parramatta City Council has introduced two revolutionary smart-phone applications that offer live navigation to car spaces, and live tracking of the Parramatta Shuttle Bus.
Smart Parking Parramatta, uses the smart phone GPS to pinpoint the location of commuters and displays nearby car parks. It also enables users to touch on any of the locations to view car park details including up-to-the-minute occupancy rates.
Parra Shuttle Bus application is an Australian-first. It allows for real-time tracking of Parramatta’s free shuttle bus.
These applications are now available for download to android phones, for free, here, as well as in the iTunes App-Store, Android Marketplace and Windows Phone Marketplace for respective models.
