Residents' Parking Scheme
Council has introduced Parking Permit Schemes in parts of the Parramatta LGA near large employment areas and educational establishments so that on-street parking is available to residents and visitors. Parking permit schemes are currently available in the following suburbs:
- North Parramatta
- Parramatta
- Harris Park and Rosehill
- Granville (North and West of the City centre)
- Westmead
- Northmead
- Dundas & Rydalmere
A maximum of two resident parking permits and one transferrable visitor parking permit may be held by each dwelling.
Cost of Parking Permits
Based on 2011/2012 fees and charges schedule, cost of Resident and/or Transferable Visitor Parking Permits are as follows:
- Purchase and renewal fee - Ordinary $11.85
- Purchase and renewal fee - full pensioners, f/t students and unemployed $5.95
- Replacement fee - Ordinary $5.95
- Replacement fee - full pensioners, f/t students and unemployed $3.00
The fees payable for parking permits are set by Council. Refunds of any kind are not available once a permit has been issued.
Permit Validity
The permits are valid for one year from the date of issue and must be renewed each year prior to the expiry date on the permit. Note that Parramatta City Council does not send out renewal letters - it is the responsibility of permit holders to renew permits annually.
How to Obtain Parking Permits
Please read the conditions of use for resident and transferrable visitor parking permits carefully before completing the application form(s).

Apply Online - New applications for resident parking permit(s) now available through our Online Services Portal.Please have following information on hand:
- Current Vehicle(s) Registration,
- Current Drivers Licence,
- Current Utility Bill.
This service is for registered users only.
1. Download relevant application forms listed below:
- Application for resident parking permit(s) (also to be used to obtain a replacement for a damaged or lost permit)
- Application for a transferrable visitor parking permit (also to be used to obtain a replacement for a damaged or lost permit)
- Application for parking permit renewal
- Optional - Credit card authorisation form
2. Complete the downloaded application forms and lodge them to Council with the required documentation as stated in the conditions of use of the application form.
- Over the counter - Parking permit(s) can be processed by completing the application form(s) and lodging it in person, together with the required documentation at Council’s Customer Contact Centre located at 30 Darcy Street, Parramatta from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm.
- By mailing to Parramatta City Council, PO Box 32, Parramatta 2124 the completed application form(s) together with the required documentation, completed credit card authorisation form/money order or cheque (made payable to Parramatta City Council). Processing takes approximately three business days and the permit will be mailed back to the applicant.
- By faxing the application form together with the required supporting documentation and credit card authorisation form to Parramatta City Council on 9806 5904. Processing takes approximately three business days and the permit will be mailed back to the applicant.
- By e-mailing the application form together with the required supporting documentation and credit card authorisation form to Parramatta City Council to council@parracity.nsw.gov.au Processing takes approximately three business days and the permit will be mailed back to the applicant.
- By online submission - Residents can now lodge Resident Parking Permit application using on-line services portal. This service is available for registered users. Processing takes approximately 3 business days and the permit will be mailed back to the applicant.
