Park & Reserve Committees

Council encourages community participation in the development and management of our parks and reserves through our voluntary Park and Reserve Committees. We currently have approximately thirty (30) Committees which have been appointed by Council to assist in the care, maintenance, management and development of Council’s parks and reserves in accordance with the provisions of Sections 355 and 377 of the Local Government Act 1993.

Committee membership is open to both local residents, residents from adjoining areas outside the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA), and sporting user group representatives. A majority of the members of any Committee must reside within the Parramatta City Council LGA.

The maximum period of appointment for a Park or Reserve Committee is 4 years from the date of local government elections. Council will organise the reappointment of each Committee following the completion of Local Government elections. New Committee members may be appointed at any time outside the four year re-appointment process where the Committee membership has not reached maximum number of fifteen.

Anyone interested in becoming a Park or Reserve Committee member is encouraged to complete a Nomination Form (pdf) which must be completed and submitted to Councils Community Liaison Officer (Parks & Open Space).
