Park Upgrades
Current Projects
Council is currently undertaking a range of parks improvements under our 2011/12 capital works program including:
- F.S. Garside Park Playground Upgrade - Granville
- John Berger Reserve Playground Upgrade - Winston Hills
- Proposed CBD River Foreshore Playground - Parramatta Concept, Artist Impression
- George Kendall Riverside Playground Upgrade - Ermington
- Maurice O'Connell Playground Upgrade - Guildford
Completed Projects (2010/11)
Barton Park Amenities Building Extension, North Parramatta
First floor addition to the existing amenities building was designed to provide an observation and meeting room and free up storage space on the ground floor.

Horlyck Reserve Sporting Field Upgrade, South Granville
Extensive improvements including, demolition of the existing amenities building located off Boronia Street, reconstruction and enlargement of two existing undersized soccer fields to two full size playing fields, installation of irrigation, an upgrade of existing lighting, construction of a concrete synthetic grass covered cricket pitch and complete re-surfacing of both playing fields with couch turf.
Jubilee Park Upgrade, Parramatta
Construction of a corporate-style park including pedestrian lighting, sandstone seating walls, landscape planting, pathways, tree planting and uplighting, high quality seating, bins, bollards, benches and drinking fountain.
Leamington Road Reserve Playground Upgrade, Telopea
Improvement works included the new nautical themed play equipment, swings, seating, synthetic turf softfall and sandstone terracing.
Loftus Square Playground Upgrade, Epping
Upgrade works included new junior play equipment (swings, see-saw, boat, slide tower), synthetic turf softfall and turfing.
Otto Losco Playground Upgrade, Northmead
Upgrade works included new play equipment (including two seater swing, timber maze, bucket swing, play structure including climbing wall and slide), synthetic turf softfall, new park furniture (seats, picnic table and fire proof bin
enclosure); sandstone artworks (native water dragon), native vegetation and tree planting for shade, natural-themed perimeter fencing.
Upjohn Park Playground Upgrade, Rydalmere
Upgrade works included new themed play equipment (including ‘wave-rider’, rubber crocodile, balance beam, slide, monkey bars, rock-climb, firemans pole, spider net, Gyrospiral, 3-person swing), additional seating, synthetic turf softfall, native vegetation and tree planting for shade, childrens bike track with traffic signage.
Playground Shade Tree Planting
Council has recently undertaken tree planting to improve shade provision at the following 12 playgrounds:
