Galaringi & Eric Mobbs Memorial Park
Description
356 Marsden Road, CARLINGFORD
Galaringi is a large bushland reserve covering an area of over 15 hectares of native Turpentine Ironbark Forest. The local Aborigines who used to inhabit this area were the Wallamattagal, whom referred to the place as ‘Galaringi’ which roughly means ‘ours or belonging to us’. The reserve is home to many native birds and wildlife which can be seen on “The Ponds Walk” track which starts at Eric Mobbs Memorial Park and follows Ponds/Subiaco Creek to Rydalmere.
Eric Mobbs Memorial Park is a lookout area at one of the highest points of the reserve near the intersection of Evans Road & Pennant Hills Road. Eric Mobbs MBE (23.11.1891 - 04.10.1974) was a former mayor of Parramatta, and Dundas (prior to amalgamation with Parramatta). The lookout features an off-street carpark.
