

There are some dogs that are class as restricted and are managed in much the same way as Dangerous Dogs.

Restricted dogs must comply with strict control requirements. Those requirements are:
Hefty on the spot fines are applicable for each and every breach of the above control requirements. Furthermore, regardless of an owner being present or not, a dog may be seized and impounded by council if it feels that the above requirements are not being strictly adhered to.
Owners of a restricted dog are prohibited from; selling or advertising to sell, giving away, or allowing to breed with any other animal – restricted or not. There are severe penalties for restricted dog owners who commit any of the above mentioned offences. A person who accepts ownership of a restricted breed is guilty of an offence of which the maximum penalty is $16,500.00.
