Parking & Transport in Parramatta

Parramatta is a major transport hub. A new transport interchange linking trains, buses and T-way buses has opened in 2006. Paid parking has been introduced in Parramatta Central Business District, North Parramatta and Harris Park in November 2005 as part of an integrated traffic management plan.

Parking meters help turn over parking more regularly, making it easier for visitors to find parking and encourage greater patronage in business districts.

Paid parking is one element of a larger transport management plan for Parramatta.

Council is also investigating Park and Ride facilities, T-Way bus routes, upgrading its car parks and improving street signage as part of the integrated traffic management plan.

Council encourages cycling as an alternative and more sustainable way to travel, particularly for short trips. Our goal is for cycling to make up five percent of work trips to the city by 2021.
