Rates & Fees

Your rates contribute to the building of new facilities, improving infrastructure and protecting the environment in the City of Parramatta.

Here are some examples:

  • waste collection, recycling & street cleaning
  • local roads, guttering, signage and drainage Maintenance (520km of roads, 96 bridges, 553km of drains, 532km of footpaths, 14,000 street lights)
  • cycleways, pools, golf & tennis courts
  • 269 parks, playgrounds, gardens, 32 sports fields & 52 nature reserves 
  • 6 libraries, childcare centres, range of community Services (for elderly & youth, neighbourhood safety projects)
  • Community Festivals Arts & Cultural Assistance, Parramatta Riverside Theatres, Heritage & Visitor Information Centre
  • Town Planning, Landscaping, Development Applications / Building Inspections / Construction Certificates
  • and many others...

You can pay rates: in person, by phone, by mail, on-line or direct debit

In person

Council Office

Mon – Fri 8:30am – 4:30pm Parramatta City Council at 30 Darcy Street, Parramatta (Opposite Parramatta Railway station)
Sat 9:30 – 12pm A special office is open inside the Parramatta City library (Civic Place)

The Cashier will print a receipt.

Australia Post

Take this notice to any Australia Post outlet. Payment can be made by cash or cheque, credit card (master cardvisabank card) or EFTPOS

Payment through the Commonwealth Bank

You do not need to have a Bank Account. Payment can be made by cash or cheque through any branch of the Commonwealth Bank.

Payment can only be made of the installment amount or the full amount. Take this notice intact to the bank and the top section will be stamped and returned to you.



Telephone Payments

This service is through Australia Post "PostBillPay" You can pay your bill on the internet with PostBill Pay click here
This is an IVR service where you respond to the prompts with:

  1. How you want to pay for your transaction Parramatta City Council's BillPay Code -0577
  2. Reference Number (This must be 8 characters) Make sure you have postBill pay code to use this service
  3. Amount you wish to pay
  4. Credit card details (master cardvisabank card only)

Please make note of receipt number issued


Direct Debit

A separate application form is required for each rate account you wish to pay by direct debit.


BPAY Bpay

Contact your participating financial institution to make this payment from cheque, savings or credit card account. Bankcard, Visa or MasterCard are the only credit cards accepted.

Payment by post

Make your cheque payable to Parramatta City Council and cross it "Not Negotiable".

Please do not staple cheque to payment slip.
For your information, make sure you record the payment details - Date of payment, cheque No: and the amount paid on the reverse side of your rate notice.


Internet Payments

Make a payment (Rates, Licence, Debtors, Application)

You can now make payments directly through Councils Online Services, fast and secure. To pay rates through this website click on a "Make Any Payment" button select rates and follow onscreen instructions. (please note opens new window)

Arrangement to pay Rates and Charges In certain circumstances, alternative arrangements for payment of rates and charges maybe made but interest charges may still apply. Please contact Council's Rates section if you have a problem with paying rates and charges by the date shown on your notice.
