Neighbourhoods Centres Consultation 2008

Overview

This large respondent group has provided a basis for detailed location-specific analysis.

This will be used to inform Council planning and operations management of the issues to embed into the urban planning initiatives intended towards a 10 year horizon

Research Objectives

This consultation sought to find:

  • What users thought of their neighbourhood facilities
  • How they related to their neighbourhood and gaps in public and private services
  • Their perspectives of the larger town centres of Parramatta CBD, Granville, Westmead and Epping.

Major Findings

Results from this consultation will provide notable consultative input for Council’s planning staff and managers in the development of urban and related plans for the years ahead. Major centre initial analysis shows:

Parramatta CBD — busy, attractive and improving

Epping — potential for integrating a divided centre

Granville— some good shops, but is not attractive

Westmead — a good hospital precinct, with limited shopping

Outcome

More detailed analysis by staff will help inform our Council of detailed local neighbourhood and larger-centre issues. This is expected after January 2009.
