Business Parking Scheme

With the introduction of parking meters and restricted parking, Parramatta City Council has introduced Business Parking Scheme (BPS) to facilitate on-street parking for permanent operators and employees. BPS permits will be available to businesses in Harris Park, east of the railway line that operate from premises that have direct frontage to a section of street within the Business Parking Scheme as shown in Area 01A below.

A business parking permit excempts the vehicle that displays the permit from time limit restrictions and parking changes shown on the sign. This only applies if the vehicle is parked in the designated area that is shown on the parking permit.

Applications for a Business Parking Permit can be made by completing the BP Business Parking Permit Application form and submitting it in person with the required supporting documents as detailed in the application form to Council's Offices at 30 Darcy Street, Parramatta between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

The completed application from with the required supporting documents and payment details can also be faxed to 02 9806 5904 or posted to PCC, PO BOX 32, Parramatta NSW 2124.

Note Business Parking Permits are not issued over the counter. It usually takes 5 working days to process the application.

Note: Permit holders will not be able to use their permits in the Marion Street Business Strip from Station Street to Albion Street. Permit holders with an address within the Marion Street Business Strip will need to park elsewhere in Area 01A.

Signs will clearly identify the areas where parking exemptions are permitted.

Number of Business Parking Permits

A maximum of two business parking permits may be held for each business, except where two or more businesses operate from the same address, in which case the businesses will be treated as one business for the issue of permits.

Permits are not available if there is one or more off-street parking spaces available at the premises. These permits are also not available, if a premises is shared bewteen business & residential use. In that case, a maximum of two resident parking permits and one Residents Visitor Parking Permit are available.

Under exceptional circumstances, business operators and employees can apply in writing for a single further business parking permit in addition to the set maximums described above.

If one or more off-street parking spaces becomes available at the business address then the business operator or employees to whom the permits were issued must inform Council and return the permit immediately to conform to the limits on the maximum number of permits.

Nominated Vehicle

The vehicle nominated for a business parking permit must weigh less than three tonnes and not be a caravan or trailer. The vehicle must be registered in New South Wales.

If the vehicle is owned by the applicant, the original vehicle ownership documents must be shown as proof of evidence at the time of application, confirming the name of the vehicle's registered owner.

If the vehicle is not registered in the name of the applicant then proof that the vehicle is normally used by the applicant is required from the registered owner. Proof should be in the form of a letter of confirmation of ownership which, in the case of company cars, needs to be on company headed paper.

Business Operator Details for Business Parking Permits

Applicants must show proof of evidence that the named applicant is a business operator or employee at an address within the BPS area for which the application is being made. Any two of the following proofs of business address must be shown: current ACN Registration Certificate, Utility Bill (electricity, gas, telephone), current Rental Lease Agreement, Bank Statement, current Rates Notice.  Documents must show the same mailing address as the premises address nominated on the application form.

Cost of Business Parking Scheme Permits

A business parking permit costs $27.70 a year renewable on July 1.
