A Temporary Road Occupancy Permit is required when undertaking any construction or maintenance work (except work for a Works Zone or Hoarding) on a footpath or local road in the Parramatta Local Government Area (except on roads controlled by the Roads and Traffic Authority).
To apply for a Permit, please complete the
application form and return with your payment of the application fee and road occupancy charges to Council's Customer Contact Centre for processing.
The process of application generally takes 2 days. If the application is successful, the approval is faxed to the applicant. If your application is not successful your payment will be reimbursed (except for the application fee).
The approval is only granted for a maximum period of 5 days.
Road occupancy charges are calculated on a per metre per day basis. The fee is based on location of the Works Zone: Parramatta Central Business District, North Parramatta, Harris Park and other areas of the LGA.
Details for the provision of a Temporary Road Occupancy, the applicable fees and charges, standard conditions of approval and required documentation are stated on the application form.
Failure to obtain a permit or non compliance with the approved permit conditions is a breach of the Local Government Act 1993 as amended and/or the Roads Act 1993 as amended. Infringements will be issued in accordance with the regulations of these Acts.
For any technical enquiries please contact Council's Traffic & Transport Services Section on 9806 5768.
Street Parties and Special Events requiring road closures (full or partial) require the approval of the Parramatta Traffic Committee.
Written requests for road closures of this nature must be submitted to Council's Traffic & Transport services a minimum of two months in advance.
Depending on the nature of disruption to traffic and transport systems, a completed Special Event application form with supporting documents and Certificate of Insurance may be required to be submitted to Council in-accordance with the RTA guidelines to Traffic and Transport Management for Special Events.
These conditions are designed to ensure safety of the public and to maintain necessary emergency vehicle access at all times. The guidelines and application form can be downloaded from:
