Work Zones
Parramatta City Council is responsible for the approval of Works Zones in the Parramatta Local Government area (LGA).
Works Zones are provided to facilitate the efficient operation of construction projects with minimal impact on traffic and pedestrian safety and loss of on-street parking during the construction works.
Works Zones are provided in accordance with the provisions of the Australian Road Rules (Rule 181) and the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management)(Road Rules) Regulation 1999 (Clause 19) that permit a driver to stop in a Works Zone if the driver is driving a vehicle that is:
- engaged in construction work in or near the zone; or
- permitted to stop in the works zone under another law of this jurisdiction.
To apply for a Permit, please complete the
application form and return with your payment of the Application Fee and Works Zone charges to Council's Customer Contact Centre for processing.
An application for a Works Zone is considered by Council as a Parramatta Traffic Committee Item under Delegated Authority. This process may take up to six weeks.
Works Zone charges are calculated on a per metre per week basis. The fee is based on location of the Works Zone: Parramatta Central Business District, North Parramatta, Harris Park and other areas of the LGA.
Details for the provision of a Works Zone, the applicable Fees and Charges, standard conditions of approval for Works Zones and required documentation are stated on the application form.
