Rates and Fees
Your rates contribute to the building of new facilities, improving infrastructure and protecting the environment in the City of Parramatta.
Here are some examples:
- Waste collection, recycling & street cleaning.
- Local roads, guttering, signage and drainage Maintenance (520km of roads, 96 bridges, 553km of drains, 532km of footpaths, 14,000 street lights).
- Cycleways, pools, golf and tennis courts.
- 269 parks, playgrounds, gardens, 32 sports fields and 52 nature reserves.
- Six libraries, childcare centres, range of community services (for elderly and youth, neighbourhood safety projects).
- Community Festivals Arts & Cultural Assistance, Parramatta Riverside Theatres, Heritage & Visitor Information Centre.
- Town Planning, Landscaping, Development Applications/Building Inspections/Construction Certificates.

You can pay rates: in person, by phone, by mail, on-line or direct debit.
In person
Council Office
Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm Parramatta City Council at 30 Darcy Street, Parramatta (opposite Parramatta Railway Station).
The cashier will print a receipt.
Australia Post
Take this notice to any Australia Post outlet. Payment can be made by cash or cheque, or ![]()
Payment through the Commonwealth Bank
You do not need to have a bank account. Payment can be made by cash or cheque through any branch of the Commonwealth Bank.
Payment can only be made of the instalment amount or the full amount. Take this notice intact to the bank and the top section will be stamped and returned to you.

Internet payments
You can now make payments directly through Councils Online Services, fast and secure. To pay rates through this website click on a "Make Any Payment" button select rates and follow onscreen instructions. (please note opens new window). A 1% payment proccessing fee will apply for all credit card transactions.
Online payments also available through POSTbillpay website. Follow the link to the POSTbillpay website click on Go button next to 'Pay Bills Now' heading and use details below to complete your transaction.
