Count reveals reduction in homelessness
While most of us were tucked away in bed, more than 100 volunteers braved the cold to take part in Parramatta City Council’s annual homeless street count on the night of Tuesday 8 May and into the early hours of Wednesday 9 May.
Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cr Lorraine Wearne and a number of councillors took part in the Count conducted throughout the CBD, which revealed a total of 317 homeless residents – 33 were rough sleepers and 284 were in emergency and crisis accommodation.

Now State of Origin 2012 has taken on a new twist.
When the Queensland Maroons and New South Wales Blues run out on to Melbourne's Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 23 May for the first game in the three-game series, it will also be the battle that pitches City against City, Lord Mayor against Mayor.

Parramatta and Western Sydney ready for take off
Let’s make it happen.
That was the overwhelming message at today’s Parramatta Economic Development Forum, held at the Sydney Opera House and attended by some of the country’s most influential leaders in business, planning, education, politics, tourism and sport.
At the top of the list was Parramatta, the demographic and geographic centre of Sydney, the City which many panellists argued holds the key to solving Sydney’s growth dilemma.

Council calls on Federal funds for Western Sydney light rail proposal
Parramatta Lord Mayor, Cr Lorraine Wearne has called on the Federal Government to divert part of the $2.1billion originally set aside for the Parramatta to Epping rail-link, to help further the development of a Western Sydney Light Rail network.
