Australia Day celebrations to commence at Midday
Parramatta City Council’s Australia Day celebrations in Parramatta Park will commence from midday.
Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cr Lorraine Wearne said she was relieved that the rain had eased this morning and was looking forward to the full Australia Day program, which will feature an assortment of entertainment, kids’ activities, food stalls and performances in Parramatta Park.
“Our Australia Day celebration is one of the highlights on our events calendar so we are delighted it is going ahead despite the wet weather.” she said.
“I look forward to seeing many families coming out to enjoy our national holiday in Parramatta Park, and there will still be plenty to do, but it might be an idea to bring a brolly, just in case.”
The Dig 1100 Concert, featuring Zoe Badwi, Thirsty Merc and Tim Freedman, will commence from 6pm and fireworks finale at 9pm.
Patrons can stay updated on any changes to the Australia Day program via Council’s Wet Weather Line 9294 8586, or follow @discoverparra and track the #ausdayparra hashtag on Twitter, for up to the minute updates.
