Welcome to Parramattas Residents Panel

Parramatta City Council’s Residents’ Panel

Parramatta City Council’s Residents’ Panel is a group of people from all walks of life who have volunteered to represent all sectors of our community in ongoing public consultations. The original target was to have enough persons equivalent to one per cent of the area’s population (1500 residents) and that the panel to be statistically valid and representative demographically and geographically of the population of the Parramatta Local Government Area. We have achieved this and would like to increase engagement to 3000 residents in due course.

The panel will be actively involved in providing information and advice to Council decisions. Panel members will receive feedback on how their input has been received and what were the outcomes . Updates to all consultations will be made via this website.

Another successful Management Plan Expo!

On a cold and overcast Thursday night (21 May) over 150 persons filled the Parramatta City Town Hall for the presentation of the draft Management Plan for 2009/10. On entrance residents, business owners/managers and invited guests had the opportunity to mingle with Councillors and Council staff who were also served with light refreshments.

Two speeches followed one from the Lord Mayor, Clr Tony Issa OAM and the other from Councils’ CEO, Dr Robert Lang.

The focus of their speeches was on the upcoming plan, highlighting that Council through this plan intends to focus on:

  • Providing quality Council services to the Community;
  • Providing various Neighbourhood upgrades through the Neighbourhood Improvement Program;
  • Making Civic Place (in the Parramatta CBD) a reality;
  • Improving paths, roads and accessibility; and
  • Maintaining financial prudence.

In total the Council is intending to spend 127 million dollars on services and 40.2 million dollars on projects for the upcoming financial year (2009/10).

After the speeches attendees also had the opportunity to discuss specific matters with Councillors and Council officers on a one to one basis which went on into the night.

The draft plan is on exhibition; if you would like review (and possibly make comment) please click here. Please note that the exhibition period closes on the 11 June 2009 at 4.30pm.

Parramatta City Council would like to thank all Resident Panel members that attended its annual Management Plan Expo. For a highlights report on the Draft Management Plan, please click here.
